Reportedly, a 10-year-old boy with autism, who has been identified as John Haygood, was arrested at his Florida Elementary School, while he and his mother thought they were there for testing.
In the video above, you can hear the young boy crying out, “I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t understand.”
John is a student at the Okeechobee Achievement Academy in Okeechobee, Florida. The incident occurred after John was being disruptive in class, throwing paper balls around the classroom and hitting other students.
However, it was when the teacher asked him to go to time out, and John refused, that the teacher attempted to remove him, and he attacked her.
He was arrested at the school for felony battery against a teacher. He allegedly punched and kicked his teacher, which left scratches and marks.
In the video, John appears distraught. Yelling out profanity words, his hands were cuffed as two officers escort him to the backseat of a police car. Although, his mother, Luanne Haygood, followed behind them, she was the one recording the incident on her phone.
In the video, Luanne is heard speaking to the officers, saying “Excuse me, do you have any paperwork or anything you can say to me?”
Autism is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how a person behaves and interacts with others, communicates, and learns.
Since the incident, John Haygood has been expelled from the school.
