A number of travelers were detained at Dulles Airport Saturday, as officials implemented President Donald Trump’s executive order, which affected people from seven Muslim-majority countries, including Syria, Iran, and Iraq.
A 5-year-old Iranian boy happened to be one of many who were detained that Saturday. He was traveling to the U.S. with another family member when the unpleasant surprise happened. His mother, who was waiting on his arrival, had been left worried and anxious while pleading for several hours to release her son. After a long and painful wait, the young boy was eventually released to his mother, who then sang “Happy Birthday” to him when they reunited.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday banning the admittance of Syrian refugees for 90 days, which took immediate affect, while many were in the air en route to America.
Now, his action has sparked massive protests everywhere, including airports across the nation, even at Dulles Airport, where the child was detained away from his mother.
