After climbing projections and all of us pretty much assuming that Adele’s 25 would shatter records, it was just formally announced that she broke the U.S. record for most albums sold in a single week. According to Billboard, Nielsen Music confirms Adele’s new album sold 2,433,000 copies and has officially beat out the previous record held by *NSYNC when they sold 2,416,000 units of No Strings Attached back in 2000.
This, even after 25 has been kept off streaming services and has three full days left of its first week, which means these numbers will only go up. Current projections for total first week sales have Adele on pace to sell 2.9 million units.
This. Is. Magic.
