Daveed Diggs, Rafael Casal have done it again with a powerful and creative start to season 2 of Blindspotting.
The highly acclaimed STARZ comedy-drama series, Blindspotting is back and couldn’t be more relevant to the world we are living in today.
Created by Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal, who also star in the series alongside Jasmine Cephas Jones as Ashley, who is dealing with her partner Miles’ incarceration and navigating motherhood while dealing with all the other elements that life throws at you.
.The show doesn’t shy away from teaching viewers about society, wealth disparity poverty, and equality in Oakland and the world as a whole, while cleverly telling it through a comedic narrative that will have you both laughing but also thought-provoking and crying as there is a character everyone can relate to, and issues that are embedded in our own lives.
This season we see our favorite characters deal with more and get a first-hand look into how mass incarceration affects us, our loved ones, and especially black and brown people. This time around historical lessons are more prevalent and the centuries of systemic racism and inequality are taught in creative manners that have never been done before on television. In episode three, you can truly feel the pain of what past events have caused through the beautiful dance sequences created on screen.
Blindspotting is a show that needs to continue for many seasons and sets the tone for what we need more of. Season 2 premieres on Starz on April 14!
