While OutKast rapper Big Boi, real name Antwan André Patton, has been busy with the release of his new album and tour, he made sure to make some time to show some love to Abriya Ellison.
Earlier this Spring, the five-year-old was shot while playing in a bounce house near the 42-year-old’s hometown, which left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Additionally, on Thursday (August 10), the ATLien presented Ellison with a puppy bred from his kennel business, Pitfall Kennels, to help her cope.
Moreover, he states:
“[The dog is] something therapeutic [for Abriya]. [She’s] definitely inspiring [and her story touched my heart].”
In addition to her new puppy, whom she named King, Patton agreed to pay off her GoFundMe needs for her medical bills, and even pledged to renovate her bathroom for handicap accessibility.
Furthermore, Patton explains how he learned of five-year-old Ellison’s story.
“My brother saw her story that morning and was like, ‘Bro, we got to do something for this little girl.’ One thing that struck me about Abriya is that her energy and her spirit was just up. “
Consequently, Ellison just completed three months of intense therapy and fell in love with the service pups at the hospital in which she stayed.
Moreover, with a dog to call her own and one that her mother, Andreauna Douglas, says will help her recover, she exclaims:
“I’ve been born ready for a puppy.”
Additionally, her mother adds:
“She’s been asking for it for the longest and I know that a puppy that she can take care of and now she has responsibility, it’s going to do nothing but help her. Now she’s going to have to walk this dog, so she’s going to have to get out here and get to walking.”
Lastly, Patton says:
“There’s nothing like having a companion or a service dog, something therapeutic that you can love on, that can love back on you. She’s been through a lot and to see how strong she is now, that was just like ‘Oh my goodness. She’s definitely inspiring and it just touched our heart, so we’re just trying to do what we can do to help.”
And that he’s doing, as he and his brother James additionally agreed to take care of whatever veterinarian care costs King encounters.
