Childish Gambino “This Is America” Boots Drake’s “Nice For What,” Debuting At No. 1 On Billboard Hot 100

Gambino has dethroned Drake.

While viciously speaking on racism and gun violence in the land of the free, Childish Gambino‘s “This Is America,” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100, halting Drake‘s 15-week run; consequently dethroning “Nice For What,” which ruled for its first four weeks, and eleven consecutive weeks prior with “God’s Plan.”

Gambino’s new single launches as the most-streamed and top-selling song of the week and also arrives atop the streaming songs and digital song sales charts, per Billboard.

As a result of the accompanying buzzing and socially-conscious visual, the track gave Gambino his first Hot 100 No. 1 and first track to break into the Top 10; his previous high was “Redbone” at No. 12 last August.

Additionally, the viral video for the song, directed by Hiro Murai, features a cameo by SZA, while the track features background vocals from Young Thug21 SavageQuavoRae Sremmurd‘s Slim Jxmmi and BlocBoy JB.
