If you thought Drake was the only one to bless the cover of Fader Magazine’s 100th issue you were wrong! Move over Drizzy and hello to our favorite Barbadian Badgal! In true Rihanna fashion Rih is breaking the rules with this cover for a very non-traditional editorial shoot! We all know Rih dances to the beat of her own drum which is exactly why she took complete charge of this Fader cover. There was no need for photographer Renata Raksha? Why- maybe because Rih snapped her own photos. That’s right, this photo shoot is full of up close and personal ‘Rih approved’ self-portraits- I swear she never fails to set trends whether its fashion or photography! Unlike Drake’s Fader cover story there is no candid interview but rather an essay including 5 well thought out questions- a limit set by the icon herself. The write up discusses just how real Rihanna is with a leading caption reading “In a world of phonies, Rihanna is the realest. How she manages this, we may never know.” So just how did Rihanna become this world icon but still remain so real and authentic? The write up starts by detailing the fans waiting outside of Macy’s in Brooklyn at 6am- 3 days before the singer is set to make an appearance- yes 3 days! It then goes into that epic moment when the singer rented a a Boeing 777 and filled it with 140 journalist and fans for a 7 countries in 7 days for 7 Rihanna concerts and parties- in celebration of her 7th album. The big discussion however is the wait for Rih’s next album R8, and the uncontrollable anxiousness of fans who for now rely on clues and speculation to keep them going until its release. Despite the great story its the realness depicted in the self portraits that capture just how ‘real’ Rihanna is. With that said lets take a look shall we?
