A man from Capitol Heights, Maryland has been arrested after setting his pregnant girlfriend on fire.
According to FOX 5 DC, police received a 911 call approximately at 11:47 a.m for a possible arson at a apartment building on 1400 Elkwood Lane. Emergency responders discovered smoke from the second and third floor.
The pregnant victim suffered critical burns to a large part of her body and was taken to the Burn Unit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She delivered her baby soon after. The baby and mother are alive. Witnesses stated the pregnant woman was visibly burning while knocking on doors for help.

Prince George County spokesperson Jennifer Donelan released a statement about the victim:
“She was able to tell emergency personnel and our officers who set her on fire, and also indicated to our officers that particular individual, an adult male with whom she had a relationship with, was known to, was possibly on his way to Washington D.C. to do more harm to a relative with hers,”
The suspect turned himself and was arrested in Washington D.C. There were no other reported injuries from the fire.
