The 2016 GRAMMYs nominations were announced yesterday and while King Kendrick Lamar reigned supreme with 11 nominations, one ridiculously popular song was completely missing from the fanfare. Despite Drake’s success this year, he garnered just four noms, with “Hotline Bling” notably M.I.A. According to Hits Daily Double, the record was not submitted for nomination due to a clerical error on the part of Cash Money Records.
There was speculation that “Hotline Bling” was snubbed because it wasn’t the internet monster it would become at the time of the nomination deadline, September 30. But as it turns out, the nomination form was never submitted.
