Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Father, WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson, Passes Away at 75

Rocky Johnson, the father of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has passed away at the age of 75.

According to Bleacher Report, WWE confirmed the news on their website and send their condolences to The Rock and his family. Johnson was known as a wrestler for the National Wrestling Alliance and joined World Wrestling Entertainment in 1983. He won several tag team championships with fellow wrestler Tony Atlas and the pair became known as the first black tag team champions in the WWE. After his retirement, he began to work as a trainer for his son, The Rock.

“WWE is saddened to learn that Rocky “Soul Man” Johnson (born Wayde Douglas Bowles), a WWE Hall of Famer, former World Tag Team Champion, and father of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has passed away at age 75.”

Rocky Johnson was inducted into the WWE’s Hall Of Fame in 2008 along with “High Chief” Peter Maivia. His son Dwayne would go on to become one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time and the world’s highest-grossing actor.
