One Person Killed And Seven Injured In Finland Stabbing Attack

As CNN reports, at least one person is confirmed dead and seven others have been hospitalized following a stabbing attack in Turku, Finland on Friday. Three victims are currently undergoing surgery, according to YLE. It is still unclear whether any of the people injured could be the attackers.

Police have stated that they shot one of the suspects in the leg and arrested him following the stabbing, and that they are still on the hunt for other possible suspects. Finnish media published photos of the gruesome scene, with one showing a human body covered with a white sheet.

The attack took place in two marketplaces that are fairly close to each other in the city center, Kauppatori. They are known as Central Market Square and Puutori Market Square. The city of Turku is about 85 miles west of the capital of Finland, Helsinki.

Kent Svensson, 44, was a witness to seeing a man with “a huge white knife” running and stabbing people. He says:

“It was really horrible. We were sitting on a terrace just next to the square and this woman just screamed like hell and this guy was standing in front of her with a huge knife just stabbing people.” Svensson added that he saw one victim lying on the floor. He further states, “there was blood everywhere.”
