Deputies raided middle school teacher Karla Alvarez’s home and confiscated guns and $6 million in cocaine and heroin.
The teacher, Alvarez, 28, and two others, Monica Pascual Brito, 24, and Ricardo Pascual Brito, 25, are facing drug trafficking and gun charges following the drug bust by local authorities in Hall County Thursday, March 16.Hall County authorities seized 61 kilograms of cocaine, one kilogram of heroin, and two semi-automatic assault rifles from Alvarez’s home. The estimated value of the drugs totaled $6,209,280.
Certainly more than the average teaching salary in Georgia.
While Alvarez and Brito have been detained, Authorities are still looking for Ricardo Pascual Brito.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Alvarez works as a Spanish teacher at Chestatee Middle School Academy in Gainesville. She also is the girl’s school soccer team.
The school system is conducting its own internal investigation and working with the sheriff’s office.
“I’ve worked drugs and gangs for a long time and it was one of the larger cocaine seizures I’ve ever seen,” Hall County Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Ware said, according to the station.
The case is still under investigation.
