Get Ready to Celebrate 20 Years Of Notorious B.I.G & DJ Enuff Gives Do’s & Don’ts for Summer Jam 2017

Hot 97 Summer Jam has become an iconic concert within hip hop culture, and this year’s show is celebrating hip hop in true NY fashion, with a 20-year tribute to the late great Notorious B.I.G.

The popular radio station‘s annual concert is going down at the Meadowlands Arena on June 11th, and the main Stadium Stage lineup is filled with some of hip hop’s biggest names.

With March 9th marking 20 years since the passing of the iconic Brooklyn emcee, the star-studded lineup includes a “20 years of Notorious B.I.G.” celebration, presented by Singer and Biggie’s ex-wife, Faith Evans. This portion of the show is strongly hinting at a possible Bad Boy reunion that could include appearances by Puff Daddy, Mase, Lil Kim, and many more from the legendary hip hop label.

Also listed for the Summer Jam main stage are Mr. Major Key himself, DJ Khaled (and friends), super entertainer Chris Brown, and “Mr. Steal Your Girl” Trey Songz. Bronx’s own Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and French Montana are set to hit the stage, and Desiigner will also be bringing his high-energy performances to the lineup.

Also set to appear early on the main stage is Brooklyn emcee Joey Bada$$, Canadian singer Tory Lanez, Nigerian singer Jidenna, with a little reggae-dancehall mix from Konshens and Charly Black.

The parking lot Festival Stage lineup includes heavy-hitting hip-hop newcomers like Young M.A., A Boogie, Don Q, Dave East, Little Yachty, D.R.A.M., PNB Rock, Casanova, and Phresher.

But of course, Summer Jam is well known for its surprise special guests, who in past years have included heavy hitters like Michael Jackson, Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, and many more.

Hot97

Hollywood Unlocked got the chance to sit down with 20-year Hot97 veteran, DJ Enuff, and he shared some of his favorite Summer Jam memories, as well as the Do’s & Don’ts of Summer Jam.

Which number summer jam is this for you?

First in 97. Twenty years in.

Which summer jam has been your favorite so far, and why?

The producer battle between Swizz Beatz and Kanye West in 2007. Ye was still considered a newcomer at the time and the battle was like a new school vs old school producer battle. Swizz Beatz was able to play hip hop favorites from DMX, Jay Z, Eve, and songs he produced during his Ruff Ryders days so it had the crowd going crazy.

Which surprise guest was your favorite and who are you hoping will surprise fans this Sunday?

Jay Z bringing out Michael Jackson in 2001 was like the “Illmatic” of Summer Jam. Jay had just dropped his “Blueprint” album and his hit song “Izzo” sampled the Jackson 5. So when Michael Jackson came out everyone just went insane!

I can’t give any names of special guests for Sunday, but I can say to watch for Khaled’s set, watch for French’s set, and of course watch for Biggie’s set because you never know who’s going to come out.

What are some of the DJ sets we can look forward to at Summer Jam?

You can definitely look forward to seeing Dj Camilo do his thing. We also got Bobby Trends, Kast One, Megan Ryte, and Bobby Konders and Jabba on the reggae mixes.

What are some rules or Do’s & Don’ts for having a fun time at summer jam?

Females should wear sneakers or comfortable footwear. Definitely don’t wear high 7 inch heels. Wear light makeup because by 8pm your makeup might be running down your face onto your shirt.

People who drink alcohol, please remember to hydrate yourself and drink water in between drinking liquor. You want to make sure to preserve your summer jam memories and not forget them the next day from a hangover.

For the fellas, maybe bring a change of shirt or some deodorant.

Any word on the rowdiness that has occurred at past Summer Jams?

Honestly, the number of people in the building is not too crazy. It’s nothing like going to a sports game. I’ve seen much worse at a Giants or Yankees game. People need to just remember to respect your space, have a good time, and stay away from people who look like they’re in a hurry.

The weather will be beautiful on Sunday. No rain at all. We’ve had years where it rained. One year Eminem and Fat Joe were performing and it down poured, but they kept on performing.

Fans of hip hop will enjoy the show.
