Hill Harper and Nate Parker’s 8th Annual Manifest Your Destiny Toy Drive & Fundraiser was a night filled with joyful giving and socializing over live music. In one night, the MYD Foundation was able to raise over $20,000 and collected hundreds of toys to donate to Summer Empowerment Academy Foundation and the Salvation Army Transitional Living Center of Los Angeles, which will benefit disadvantaged youth.
Some of your favorite celebrities where in attendance to support the cause. We were on the red carpet finding out what their Christmas wish was this year.
Draya says she wishes for world peace.
Paige Hurd is wishing for a new man (me too, girl), while rapper YG is wishing for a new Benz.
One of the hosts of the event, Amber Rose hopes for “Health and Happiness. For me, my family and friends, everybody here.”
Amber Rose also shared with us her inspiration behind her book “How to be a Bad Bitch”
“I guess it was the mistakes that I made in life. I wanted to share them so that other women wouldn’t make the same mistakes. And just to kind of give people a look inside my life because people look at me sometimes like an enigma so, I used the book and my SlutWalk to express myself.”
Attendees rolled in on the red carpet one-by-one bearing gifts and great energy.
We also got the chance to follow Jason Lee, our favorite host for the event, throughout the night as he chatted it up with the stars.
Everyone vibed out and partied for a cause as DJ Carisma and DJ R-Tistic ran the ones and twos. The dance floor was going and then Melanie Fiona and all her motherly glory gave a performance that had everyone blown away.
The atmosphere was filled with cheer and laughter. We all were thankful for the ability to give back and became inspired by Hill Harper and Nate Parker’s philanthropy. All-in-all, everyone’s donation that night made the event a great success – we are now looking forward to next year and the years to come. Congratulations to all who contributed!
