All of this winning… Rap mogul, Jay Z, has finally released details surrounding the mysterious 4:44 that had social media in a frenzy.
Shawn Carter, A.K.A Jay Z, is undeniably having the best year. From making history by becoming the first rap artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the birth of his twins with Beyoncé this past weekend, to the announcement of the official release date for his new album, 4:44.
The announcement to 2013’s Magna Carta Holy Grail follow up album comes amid social media’s panic over the mysterious 4:44 ads. The numbers began appearing on posters in subway stations, billboards, as well as celebrities posting via social media.

However, all was revealed this past Father’s Day, after the release of the official trailer. The sneak peak into the Tidal-only film shows stars Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danny Glover. The black and white featured exclusive clip opens with Mahershala Ali as a boxer. Glover also appears in the clip. A snippet of Jay’s new track, entitled “Adnis,” is playing in the background.
“Letter to my dad that I never wrote / Speeches I prepared that I never spoke / Words on a paper that I never read / Proses never penned / They stayed in my head.”
In addition to the album’s release, 4:44 will only be available exclusively on Tidal and Sprint. The partnership between Tidal and Sprint will support a $1 Million project. The project is an initiative that will help provide Internet for low-income U.S. high school students who don’t have access at home.
Social Media is sent into overload while praying the new album lives up to all the “hype.”
