Jennifer Lopez uses gender neutral term on Instagram, and fans have noticed!
In today’s day and age, identity and pronouns are very important.
It’s been about a year since Target first announced their move to change their restrooms to gender neutral. Following their decision, more companies began to follow suit.
It got better from there. Just last month, we talked about Oregon becoming the first state to offer Third-Gender Option ID’s.
Today, Singer Jennifer Lopez took to her Instagram to show her support for gender identity in a way that was very small, yet equally as important.
On her page, she posted a picture with a caption that read the following:
This is Brendan my sister Leslie’s second child!! They were the one person selected to represent their school at #globalyoungleadersconference in Washington DC!!! And I couldn’t be more proud!!! Brendan is strong and smart and loving and a obviously a leader!! Titi Jenn loves you!! #superproudauntie #familia.
The word that stands out is “they!”
Lopez shows that she understands how important gender neutral pronouns are, and her fans in the comments noticed.
JLo’s comments were filled with supporters who just found even more of a reason to love the performer.
As of right now, there is no official pronoun for niece and nephew when it comes to gender identity.
Some have said that “nibling” is the correct term, while other websites say “they” as a singular noun is widely recognized as 100% proper.
But before we take notice of the pronoun, we must send a great job to Brendan for being selected to attend the Global Young Leaders Conference.
Take a look at some of the comments that socialites left under JLo’s post!
