The airline has decided to help their customers leave Florida before Hurricane Irma makes landfall.
According to Reuters, JetBlue has opened up $99 deals for every Florida city. The maximum fare for last minute booking is $159. JetBlue spokesman Doug McGraw said the airline wants their customers to be safe:
“”We want those trying to leave ahead of the hurricane to focus on their safe evacuation rather than worry about the cost of flights,”
Florida is currently in a state of emergency since Irma will be expected to make landfall this weekend. There are also two more hurricanes forming in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.
Flights have been reduced in the eastern Caribbean for September 7 and 8th.
As of now, all seats have been sold out due to high demand:
“For those looking to evacuate areas in the hurricane’s path, we are offering any remaining seats in select markets at a reduced fare of $99 – $159 including government taxes. Due to high interest in this offer, seats are predominantly sold out.”
Customers that booked their flights prior to Irma’s impending arrival have been offered a waiver:
“Due to the impending weather forecasted in the Caribbean and Southeast regions, we will waive fees and increases in fare for customers within the parameters below.”
