John Cena And Nikki Bella End Engagement After 6-Year Relationship
WWE stars John Cena and Nikki Bella have decided to call it quits, just one year after getting engaged in the middle of the ring in front of thousands of fans at Wrestlemania.
Bella, whose real name is Nicole Garcia-Colace, made the shocking announcement on Instagram Sunday night.
“After much contemplation and 6 years of being together Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple. While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”
Now, if you’ve been following the couple then you know that their relationship has been quite a bumpy ride. Nikki went into the relationship in 2012 knowing that John did not want to get married again. However, years later, he changed his mind and proposed to her back in April of 2017 on live TV during a couple’s match.
Their destination wedding was scheduled for May 5 in October, and they announced that they’d changed the date due to their schedules. While the two didn’t state any real reason for their split, sources tell PEOPLE Magazine that John started getting cold feet as the wedding date drew near.
“She never gave him an ultimatum. He talked a really good game about having changed, about having his priorities straight, about knowing what’s important, and that it was her. But as the day got closer, it was like he just went back to who he’s always been — which is someone who puts himself first, always,” the insider says. “He’s an incredibly dedicated, driven, ambitious guy. And for the longest time he said he didn’t think he had room in his life for a spouse or kids. It seems like in the end that was still the truth.”
The source continues,
“But in that case, he never should’ve proposed, let alone in front of millions of people. Now she’s heartbroken.”
