Justin Bieber Details Drug Abuse In New Documentary: ‘I Felt Like I Was Dying’

For the first time, Justin Bieber is going deep into details about his past experiences with drug addiction. In an episode of his new documentary series “Justin Bieber: Sessions,” that released Monday, the 25-year-old star shares how his drug abuse spiraled after experimenting with marijuana at around “12 or 13-years-old.”

He says he began depending on marijuana heavily and then got involved with lean (a mixture of codeine cough syrup, soda , and hard candy), and “everything” else including taking pills, MDMA, and psychedelic mushrooms. However, Bieber eventually decided he wanted to get sober and change his life around when he finally “felt like I was dying.”

“My security and stuff would come into my room at night to check my pulse,” he recalled. “People don’t know how serious it got. It was legit crazy scary. I was waking up in the morning and the first thing I was doing was popping pills and smoking a blunt and starting my day. It just got scary.”

While speaking about his road to recovery, Bieber’s thanks his wife Hailey Bieber for helping him get clean because she reportedly wouldn’t date him “until he chose to get sober up.”

He explained,

“Being the best me is gonna help me be the best husband, the best father, the best friend that I can possibly be.”
