While she’s been in the news regarding her legal battle with former producer, Dr. Luke, Kesha has resurfaced after four long years with new music, sending an intensely compelling message.
Releasing her new single and music video for “Praying,” off of her upcoming album Rainbow on Thursday (July 6), the “Tik Tok” songstress opens the immensely soul-clenching track, speaking aloud about her issues of depression and hopelessness.
Production credit goes to Ryan Lewis, Ben Abraham, and Andrew Joslyn, along with video direction by Sweden’s Jonas Åkerlund.
On the track, you’ll learn that Kesha does not hide her recent battles of sexual and emotional abuse since 2014; instead, the singer chooses to acknowledge it happened.

Furthermore, by song/video’s end, we learn the lesson of powering through our struggles and choosing to forgive.
Kesha writes of her new single:
“This song is about coming to feel empathy for someone else even if they hurt you or scare you. It’s a song about learning to be proud of the person you are even during low moments when you feel alone. It’s also about hoping everyone, even someone who hurt you, can heal.”
Moreover, Kesha’s forthcoming album, Rainbow, will be released on August 11, making it her first full-length album in five years.
Meanwhile, fans and fellow artist, Bebe Rexha, are already loving the new work. Check out these tweets below.

When the shot zooms out from her colorful world back to the lifeless black and white body lying in the middle of the ocean. Chills. #Praying
