Mac Miller Talks Politics and #BlackLivesMatter

Mac Miller ruffled some feathers and earned some props Tuesday night when he made a few pointed remarks regarding the 2016 Presidential bid and reverse racism.

Mac shared his thoughts on the on the Black Lives Matter movement and, more pointedly, the very concept of reverse racism by engaging in rare tweet exchanges with proponents of the argument tweeting, “White people, reverse racism isn’t real. Racism describes a system built to keep a race or ethnicity away from success and evolution.”

The GO:OD AM rapper followed his tweet by posing a question to “White listeners of Rap music” (aka himself and a vast majority of his fan base) and asking what they’ve done to support Black Lives Matter. “Dear White People who listen to rap music … What have you done for the #BlackLivesMatter movement?” When a fan accused the 23-year-old of “making it seem like music is dividing race,” he explained, “Music is bringing people together for sure. But just because we listen to rap music doesn’t mean we get it.”

See more of his rant below.

Personally, I applaud Mac for even engaging in the conversation. What are your thoughts on Mac’s stance?
