Steve Stephens, 37, sparked a massive manhunt on Easter Sunday after his brutal video gained national attention. Police officials were unable to locate Stephens for about two days. But a Pennsylvania McDonald’s employee who saw the killer and stalled on his order was able to put a lead on the dangerous man.

According to The New York Times, Stephens pulled up to the drive-through of the McDonald’s restaurant when the female employee noticed him. Stephens ordered a 20 piece McNuggets and a large fries. Usually, an order like that doesn’t take long, but the employee tried to stall so her boss could alert the police.

Stephens, who tells the worker that he has to go, eventually leaves and doesn’t take what would have been his meal.

However, Erie County Police did receive the helpful tip and began a “brief pursuit, that put an end to all the madness.” Stephens is now dead after shooting himself in the head.
