Nipsey Hussle takes his flagship store to where it all started!
Hollywood Unlocked was on the scene as LA-based rapper, Nipsey Hussle, took over the corner of Slauson and Crenshaw to celebrate the first flagship store opening for his clothing line, Marathon.
LA lined the block for the celebration of the store in a location that meant so much to the rapper, but the community as well.
From Nipsey’s actress girlfriend, Lauren London, NBA player, Russell Westbrook, and Radio DJ, Big Boy, this event was intended for the public to see celebrity idols giving back to a large community.
Before the ribbon cutting, the team behind the store gave a tour of the technologically advanced store.
Through 3D digital integration, the store is considered a smart store by Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson. He was front and center for the ribbon cutting.
By simply placing an iPad over the mural on the wall, you are able to see clips from Nipsey’s documentary. The documentary features behind the scenes details about building the store.
However, that’s not the only thing that is using digital technology integrated into a shopping experience.
By simply placing an iPad over any one of his albums in the glass case, fans are able to hear select songs off of each one.
This store is one that brings the community together for a positive outlook. It also gives back to that same community which has done so much to improve.
As friends close to the rapper say, this store is one of very few that actually hires those with a rough past and gives them a second chance.
Back in the day, the store next door used to be a frequent hangout spot for Nipsey, called Slauson Tee’s. That store was actually was the first location to sell the brand.
The storefront was a place where the community would gather to hang out, however, it also brought frequent gang violence.
With the hustle of Nipsey and his team, the area around the store has become a safe place for people to come and shop.
Flash forward to today, Nipsey is able to give back to the community that gave so much to him. Keeping the store in a location that means a lot to him was important for the rapper.
