Prince Charles To Walk Meghan Markle Down The Aisle On Royal Wedding Day
Prince Charles will be walking Meghan Markle down the aisle at the royal wedding on Saturday, May 19.
Kensington Palace said in a statement:
“Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George’s Chapel on her wedding day. The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to the royal family in this way.”
The decision comes after the whole confusion with Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, 73, who was forced to pull out of attending the wedding following a scandal involving staged paparazzi photographs and his recent heart surgery.
“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” Meghan said in a statement via Kensington Palace on Thursday, May 17. “I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
It has been reported that her mother, Doria Ragland, 61, was going to do the honors but it looks Prince Charles has stepped up for the ceremony.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s big wedding day is scheduled for Saturday, May 19 at the St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, Windsor, United Kingdom.
