Rick Ross was shocked when he was hit with the news of a scheduled court appearance.
The Maybach Music Group founder and rapper, says that he was unaware that he was being sued. According to the Jasmine Brand, earlier this month the rapper filed a motion to dismiss the
entire case. Moreover, Ross explained that the man company served with the court documents was not a representative of or allowed to accept papers on his behalf.
Ross is now requesting that the judge dismisses the entire case due to insufficient service of the legal papers.
A default judgment was entered into court records in November. The plaintiff claimed that Rozay was served with the papers but failed to respond in court. Ross is now requesting that the judge dismisses the entire case due to insufficient service of the legal papers.
So where did the lawsuit come from?
Mithraic Group Entertainment filed the lawsuit back in 2013 when the rapper failed to appear for a scheduled concert at the University of Texas in 2012. The entertainment group says they signed a deal with Rick Ross, Meek Mill and Machine Gun Kelly. While the company paid $55k for Ross and another $32k for Meek Mill and Machine Gun Kelly, none of the rappers showed up for the show.
The company says they later learned that the rappers were doubled booked. The company is seeking the money from the deposit made as well as damages for lost profits from the concert.
