Serena Williams is giving BODY and abs on the new cover of New York Magazine! The 33 year old tennis star is coming off of one of the best seasons of her career. She has stoned a reputation as the greatest women’s tennis player of all time. In the mag she is dishing on her true love of fashion, her early childhood on the tennis courts of Compton, and the backlash she receives as a black female professional athlete. Speaking of fashion, Williams credits herself and sister Venus for bringing fashion back to the game of tennis. She says “We brought fashion back to tennis, It was great when Chris Evert was around. Tracy Austin had some great designs. But the ’90s was not a good time.” The sister’s on court fashion statements including black lace, flesh colored underwear, and knee-high sneaker boots, were often described by spectators as ‘confrontational’. Serena certainly has plans for a post-court life of fashion with her successful yet affordable brand new release of “Serena’s Signature Statement Collection” exclusively for HSN.
