A situation between a California waiter and a group of women has gone viral after he refused to serve the women unless they proved they resided in the United States.
Diana Carrillo (pictured) and a group of friends went to the upscale restaurant Saint Marc. The restaurant is located in the city of Huntington Beach. As reported by the Washington Post, Carrillo has been to the restaurant before. The four women began to pick their orders from the menu when the waiter made a shocking request.
He said to the four women that he wanted proof that the women lived in the United States.
“I need to make sure you’re from here.”
The group of Latina women gave their IDs, but were shocked by the waiter’s request. The manager was informed of the waiter’s actions towards the group. He offered to accommodate the women, but they refused and left the establishment.
Carrillo posted the encounter on her Facebook page, which led the story to become viral:
The waiter has been fired since the incident and the Senior Director of Saint Marc released a statement after Carrillo’s post was shared over 600 times:
“I don’t know if he had a agenda or not. My concern is he violated a company policy. We’re very specific about how we treat our guests. That individual did not treat a table of guests to the expectations that we set forth in that company policy, and that caused him to be fired”
