Last Summer, popular shoe brand Birkenstock sweat the fashion world with everyone from women and men to kids rocking a pair of the cork sole sandals, clogs, and slippers.
They are now taking on another avenue, and venturing into the skincare world with a major line of products that use some of the same cork oak ingredients as their footwear to give the skin an anti-aging effect.
WWD CEO Oliver Reichert said,
“While we were doing our research regarding a healthy product concept in the skin-care segment, we realized that scientists in the cosmetics industry had discovered the highly effective antiaging effect of suberin, a remarkable substance which is contained in cork oak extract.”
The 28-piece Birkenstock Natural Care line is a major campaign move for the brand, which is a part of a new initiative to help the brand focus on overall well-being, also mentioning that they wanted to launch a bed collection.
“That’s how the whole project started. We then took our time in terms of developing the whole natural cosmetics range, with product quality coming first at all times with a team of experienced experts.”
With the price ranging from $17 to $74, this is one product line that will inspire a lot of men who want to use more natural products to maintain their facial hygiene through the use of arctic moss, argan oil, and baobab.
Birkenstock has already debuted some of these new creations at the trade fair Biofach 2018, including a leg and foot oil, moisturizing foot cream, revitalizing shampoo, and facial moisturizing toner. The full collection is expected to drop online this Fall, and in stores in the U.S. and Asia.
