Heartbreaking news, Cuba Gooding Sr., soul singer and the father of actor Cuba Gooding Jr., died this Thursday, according to TMZ. He was 72.The news site quotes that police officers found Gooding Sr. “slumped over in his silver Jaguar, parked on Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills, CA.” Fire department responded to the scene and attempted CPR, but was unable to resuscitate him.
Police reportedly suspect a possible overdose after finding an empty bottle of alcohol in his car, according to the site.
Gooding Sr. was known as the the lead singer of the soul singing group, The Main Ingredient, who had two major hits. One back in 1972 for “Everybody Plays the Fool” and the other in 1974 for the song “Just Don’t Want to Be Lonely.”
The singer would have been 73 next week.
