Starbucks released its limited edition Unicorn drinks this past April as it was only available for a week. According to NY Daily News, the lawsuit filed in a Brooklyn federal court states that Starbucks, coordinate a social media blitz to drown out the fame that any coffee shop in Brooklyn could obtain. Moreover, the coffee shop also said that customers started thinking Unicorn Lattes, with a trademark pending, were the copycat drink.
The coffeehouse giant fired back and released a statement saying, “We are aware of the claims and believe they are without merit. The Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino blended beverage was inspired by the fun, spirited and colorful unicorn-themed food and drinks that have been trending in social media. The beverage was offered for a limited time in April and is no longer available in our stores.”
