While Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd’s new jam “Cant Feel My Face” is blasting through speakers across the country, the 25 year old Toronto Native is sitting down with GQ Magazine for his 3rd interview out of his entire career! Coming off of the success of his summer ‘lovers anthem’ “Earned It” also featured on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack the singer is on top of the world and the charts. Inside the September issue the Weeknd is dishing on everything from being shy of the press, Ed Sheeran’s rap battle skills, admiration of Kanye’s new collection with Adidas, and of course his music. When asked how he feels about people saying his songs are too creepy for them- too dark, too druggy, too sexually explicit? He responds with “It makes me feel good. How much is too much? Some people love PG horror movies and some people love R rated horror movies.”
The interview then took a turn towards fashion. When asked “At our fitting and photo shoot, you found a comfort zone with the Yeezy clothes pretty quickly. What did you like about them? Why do they work for you?” The Weeknd responded with this- “I really felt like he targeted someone like me. The camo, the army look, the black boots, the nonchalant kind of vagrant look. I relate to it. It relates to my story. Kanye is such a great friend of mine as well, when he asked me I couldn’t say no. It was the least I could do”.
