The man accused of driving down Times Square, eventually killing a teenager, is speaking out. Richard Rojas, 26, told prosecutors at a court appearance that he wanted to “kill them all.” He continued to say that officers on the scene should have shot at him, according to prosecutors.
Rojas’ lawyer did not have any comment. He is due back in court next week, as the suspect did not enter a plea. Rojas further confessed to police that he smoked marijuana laced with PCP.
In 2011, Rojas enlisted in the Navy. He served as an electrician’s mate fireman apprentice. He served aboard the USS Carney the next year. According to Navy records, Rojas spent two months at a naval prison in Charleston, South Carolina in 2013. The records do not state why he was in prison.
In his final months in the Navy, Rojas spent his time at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. He was discharged in 2014.
