The latest person to speak out is Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady. While appearing on “The Jump,” McGrady aka T-Mac shared how he found out about the heartbreaking news. He also recalled some specials moments as well as the time Kobe used to tell him that he wanted to “die young”.
“He used to say, ‘I want to die young, I want to be immortalized,'” a tearful McGrady said to anchor Rachel Nichols, who was caught off-guard. He added that Kobe respectfully wanted to have a better career than Michael Jordan. “I thought he was so crazy for saying that,” McGrady said. “I’m devastated.” McGrady went on to share the unique bond him and Kobe used to share during their legendary NBA careers.
As we previously reported, the 41-year-old legend died with his 13-year-old daughter along with seven others Sunday morning in a helicopter crash. Heavy fog is said to be the cause of the crash. However, that report by TMZ was not officially confirmed by law enforcement sources.
