A new viral video has hit the web after footage was released of an SUV careening through a Shell gas station, causing a fiery explosion. In Seattle, security cameras caught the moment an erratic 60-year-old male Uber driver, carrying a 40-year-old passenger, crashed into a gas pump on Tuesday (March 14). The incident occurred after the Uber driver collided with another car, pushing it off the road, crashing into a tree and splitting the vehicle in two. The driver, a 35-year-old male, has passed from his injuries.
Following the incident, the passenger was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The driver was given a sobriety test and passed. Later at the hospital after police issued a warrant, a blood sample was taken from the driver, with pending results. An arrest has not been made.
Tracey Breeden, an Uber spokesperson stated that the man has since been removed as a driver for the on-demand service and they are cooperating with police. Her statement, “Our hearts and thoughts go out to all those involved in this terrible accident, and the driver has been removed from the app. We will work with the Seattle Police Department to assist in their investigation,” which Seattle police adds, could take months.
