The young woman claiming to have been exposed to the herpes virus after having unprotected sex with Usher is speaking out in court.
Quantasia Sharpton says she was celebrating her 19th birthday when she and her friends were invited backstage at an Usher concert.
According to a press conference in NYC on Monday morning, she gave her number to security, and back at the hotel, she received a call from the award-winning singer.
“We spoke for a while and then we engaged in sexual contact. He never warned me about any STDs, it was just after my 19th birthday,” Sharpton said.
“When I first heard he had herpes I couldn’t believe it… I would have never consented if I had known.”
“Usher, if you are negative, please say so. If you are positive, you need to warn your sex partners,” Sharpton said.
Though the press conference was held in New York, the suit will be filed in California. Sharpton’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom, says in California, the law requires a person to disclose he or she has herpes to a sex partner.
The revelation of Usher’s STD status came last month, when a secret settlement in 2012 was brought to light, where Usher paid a celebrity stylist $1.1 million for knowingly giving her herpes through unprotected sex.
According to the settlement, the eight-time Grammy award winner was diagnosed with the virus in 2009 or 2010, and has allegedly had multiple unprotected sexual encounters since.
Usher’s diagnosis came around the same time he divorced his first wife, Tameka Foster.
Bloom has stated on Twitter that she has been contacted by other people claiming to have had sex with Usher, who are concerned that they were exposed to herpes. Usher has not responded to the charges.
Usher is still remaining silent on all of the charges and allegations.
Let’s take a look at some pictures highlighting Usher in less controversial times…
