A 15-year-old boy has been charged with shooting and critically injuring a 7-Year-Old who was trick-or-treating.
A 7-year-old girl is recovering after being shot in the neck while out trick-or-treating on Halloween. Police have arrested a 15-year-old in relation to the incident.
The boy who’s name is being withheld due to his age shot not only the girl in the crossfire but also a 30-year-old man who was the target in whats believed to be a gang-related shooting.
The 15-year-old was charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of battery through the discharge of a firearm, police said in a news release Friday night. He was taken into custody and interviewed earlier Friday.
Police believe that the young gunman is a member of the Gangster Two-Six gang targeting the other male, a reported member of the Latin Kings.
“This is unacceptable,” Sgt. Rocco Alioto said. “A 7-year-old girl that was trick-or-treating with her family had to get shot because a group of guys want to shoot at another male.”
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the shooter had on a mask similar to the one Jason wears in the “Friday the 13th” movies. Investigators believe that they have obtained the weapon that was used in the shooting.
Investigators have also received several tips from the public in the hours after the shooting. Police were able to recover surveillance video that detectives believe shows people involved in the shooting or people who know those who were involved.
