Ariana Grande has no doubt been through major ups and downs this year and the singer spoke on it during her acceptance speech Thursday night.
The “Thank U, Next” songstress was the lady of the night as she took home the Woman of the Year Award during Billboard’s Women In Music event. Receiving such an honor would normally be one of the happiest moments in an artist’s career but Grande was singing to a different tune Thursday night.
The honoree seemed to be in a somber mood as she was recognized for her achievements.
“I want to say that I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years of my career and the worst of my life,” she said.
“I’m not saying that for sympathy. I’m just saying that because I think a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now … and think, ‘She’s really got her s— together,’ Ya know? Like, ‘She’s really on it.’ Like, ‘She’s got it all.’”
“I do, but as far as my personal life goes, I really have no idea what the f–k I’m doing so yeah, it’s been a very conflicting one.”
Mac Miller’s, Grande’s ex-boyfriend, sudden passing shocked the world in early September when he suffered a fatal drug overdose. Grande began dating “Saturday Night Live” comic Pete Davidson after her and Miller’s previous breakup and the two announced their engagement two weeks after. They recently called it quits in October.
There seemed to be no bad blood among the two as Davidson had kind words for Grande on an episode of “Saturday Night Live” but he recently blocked the 25-year-old pop star on Instagram brewing more questions.
