PETA is not happy about Tiffany Haddish’s recent vow to wear fur in protest of police brutality towards black people.
The 39-year-old comedian uploaded a video on Instagram last week telling a story of how she was given a fur vest from a fan who came to one of her stand-up shows.
“She wasn’t really planning on it, but she said she loved me,” Haddish said.
“And I said, ‘if you really love me, give me your jacket.’ And she did.”
The video continued as Haddish vowed to “wear this as much as possible.”
“I don’t know if you know this about me, but I’m about to start protesting,” she said.
“I’m going to wear fur every day until they stop killing black people. When the police stop killing black people, I’ll stop wearing fur. It’s my new protest. So sorry PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), don’t be mad at me, be mad at the police.”
“See how that go? Because people are important. And so are the animals – to keep me warm.”
PETA came across the controversial video and left a concerned comment under Haddish’s post.
“We love you, Tiffany, and as an animal rights organization, we advocate for and believe in kindness towards all, including animals,” the organization commented.
“We hope that you choose to protest in a different way that doesn’t harm any humans or any animals, but is kind to all.”
