A 12-year-old boy from Oregon is being held in juvenile detention because he’s accused of murdering a 92-year-old woman.
Emma Burnell was found dead in her home on Monday afternoon after someone dialed 911 and reported an injured person located at her address, per The Register Guard. According to Jason Davis, a Lane County Health and Human Services Department spokesperson, the boy was arrested on Wednesday or Thursday.
He was taken to Serbu Juvenile Justice Center located in Eugene on suspicion of murder and first-degree burglary. His name has not been released due to his age. Police refused to reveal if Burnell knew the boy, who initially reported the injury or how her life was taken. The boy is scheduled to appear in juvenile court for the first time on Friday.
Just last December, another 12-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly killing his twin sister by stabbing her in the neck and torso. The Connecticut boy also allegedly stabbed his mother, who called the police “saying she and her daughter had been stabbed by her son”, per a statement from the West Hartford Police Department.
