A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed by a Fullerton police officer in Anaheim on Friday.

Fullerton police said the shooting happened around 7 p.m. in the eastbound 91 Freeway just west of Tustin Avenue.

The family has released the identity of the girl as Hannah Linn Williams of Anaheim. She was killed during a traffic stop and police reportedly found a replica handgun in the vehicle next to Williams. It was not a real weapon according to the Anaheim police statement.

As of now, police have not released the circumstances of the shooting. Apparently a deputy saw Williams driving at a high speed when they initially interacted. At some point, the incident led to the shooting.

“The Williams Family wants to set the standards for transparency in this case,” Rev. Jarrett Maupin of the National Action Network said. “The public wants to know what happened and whether or not the officers involved followed all policies and procedures. We have doubts.”

The Orange County District Attorney’s office and Anaheim police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
