19-Year-Old Mom And Newborn Baby Both Die After She Delayed Her Cancer Treatment To Save Son

A mother and her newborn baby die just three months apart after she halted treatments for leukemia to save his life.

Brianna Rawlings of Australia was just 19-years-old when she passed away, just months after losing her newborn baby.

Rawlings was 17 weeks pregnant at the time she was diagnosed with leukemia and decided to halt her treatments to deliver him safely.

“Without hesitation, [Rawlings] chose to halve her own chances of survival in order to give her son a fighting chance with as much time as possible – womb side,” friends and family wrote on the page.

With the deadly blood disease getting more serious as her pregnancy progressed, Rawlings was forced to deliver her baby boy three months early via C-section.

He only lived for twelve days before he passed.

“For 12 whole days this beautiful little miracle graced his mum and dad with his presence. [Twelve] short but magical and treasured days, before tragically; growing his angel wings and leaving such devastated and broken parents behind.”

Following her delivery, Rawlings underwent “heavy” chemotherapy and radiation therapy as well as a cell transplant.

However, the treatment was not enough to save her life as she passed on December 29th just days after turning 19.

“Our Beautiful Brianna reached the end of her journey with us here on earth and was finally reunited with her Baby Bear Kyden,” the family wrote in an update.

“We are absolutely broken but at the same time at peace knowing she is no longer in pain, no longer in pieces and unsure of what news was to come next.”
