21 Savage’s Mother Denied To Walk Grammy Carpet To Avoid Protest About Immigration
21 Savage’s mother wanted to walk the Grammys red carpet to honor her son while he is detained in an ICE center, however, that was made impossible.
The Blast reports that Heather Joseph planned on attending the 61st Annual Grammys in LA and was hit with multiple obstacles. At first, the rapper’s manager showed up to the Staples Center to pick up the tickets and red carpet credentials and was told the rapper would have to be present to collect them.
His mother then went down and begged the officials to release her son’s tickets given his circumstances. Apparently, the tickets were finally released to her, but, only once the red carpet arrivals had ended.
21 Savage’s team believes the denial was done on purpose to avoid any protest about immigration. Apparently, Savage’s teamed wanted family members and fellow artists to walk the red carpet with documented immigrants to show support for the rapper. His family believes they were denied the chance to support Savage.
In the end, they chose not to attend the show due to the time it took to get the tickets.
