The quake was initially reported to be a 3.7 magnitude but was downgraded to a 3.4 by the US Geological Survey. The quake was followed by two aftershocks of 1.9 at 4:45 a.m. and 2.0 at 4:48 a.m.

Although the shaking reportedly only lasted for a few seconds, people reported feeling the earthquake in cities such as Hayward, Walnut Creek, Berkeley, San Francisco, Redwood City, and San Jose. Some people took to social media to check if anyone else felt it. One person wrote on Twitter,

“The 4:45 earthquake woke me up right quick. Couldn’t sleep so hung out on the floor of my daughter’s room reading her books until she got up. Another wrote, “can’t believe I actually slept through an earthquake.”

As of right now, there have been no reports of injuries and no apparent infrastructure damage, according to Washington County Chief Deputy Billy Barber.
