3 States Have Legalized Marijuana For Recreational Or Medical Use
On top of the other states that have already legalized marijuana, three more states have agreed to do the same for recreational or medical use.
On Tuesday, Michigan legalized marijuana, making it the 10th state in the nation and the first state in the Midwest to do so. In Utah and Missouri, voters legalized marijuana for medical purposes, making it the 31st and 32nd states to approve medical cannabis. However, in North Dakota, voters declined a proposal that would have legalized marijuana for recreational use, according to The Huffington Post.
“This is yet another historic election for the movement to end marijuana prohibition,“ Steve Hawkins, executive director of the Marijuana Policy Project said.“Voters have once again sent a message loud and clear that it is time to legalize and regulate marijuana. The victory in Michigan highlights just how widespread support is for marijuana policy reform. This issue does not only enjoy strong support on the coasts but also in the Midwest and all throughout the country.” The site quotes.
Now, Michigan voters approved Proposal 1 which allows adults 21 and older to buy, grow, use and possess marijuana for recreational purposes. Utah and Missouri took proposal 2 which allows them to use it strictly for medical use.
The big victories follow the news of Canada also legalizing weed back in October.
