Rhonita Maria LeBaron, died along with her 7-month-old twins and her two other children, aged 10 and 12. Christina Langford Johnson, Dawna Langford and two of Dawna’s children, aged 11 and three, were also killed during the ambush,The Daily Mail reports. While speaking with CBS, family members shared that the victims all left their community at the same time in three separate cars. Some were traveling back to the U.S. while others went to a town close by for a wedding. During their journey, the SUVs were sprayed with gunfire. It was said that there were so many rounds that one of the cars exploded.

The New York Post reports that there were some survivors following the attack on the three packed cars. One is said to be a 7-month-old baby — thanks to one final, selfless act from her mother before the woman was killed. Six other children were wounded in the attack and five have since been transferred to hospitals.

U.S. President Donald Trump condemned the attack of the US family. Trump took to Twitter early Tuesday and tweeted that he would await a call from Lopez Obrador, urging him to accept U.S. assistance.

“A wonderful family and friends from Utah got caught between two vicious drug cartels, who were shooting at each other, with the result being many great American people killed, including young children, and some missing. If Mexico needs or requests help in cleaning out these monsters, the United States stands ready, willing & able to get involved and do the job quickly and effectively. The great new President of Mexico has made this a big issue, but the cartels have become so large and powerful that you sometimes need an army to defeat an army!”

He went on to say,

“This is the time for Mexico, with the help of the United States, to wage WAR on the drug cartels and wipe them off the face of the earth. We merely await a call from your great new president!”
