Alabama High School Grad Left Out of School Yearbook Because She Wore Tuxedo

An Alabama high school graduate was left out of her year book simply because she wore a tuxedo for her senior portrait.

Student Holley Gerelds recently took to Twitter to share that she was left out of the Springville High yearbook “because I’m a lesbian who wanted to wear a tux instead of a drape.” Now, in most cases, black drapes are usually given to female students who wear for the year book pics, but Gerelds clearly felt more comfortable in a tux.

Despite not seeing her picture, which was replaced with words “not pictured” along with her name, Gerelds said she doesn’t want to cause trouble, and just wants people to be educated. She told CBS News that “life is hard enough, do what makes you happy!”

According to the news site, her principal did apologize and St. Clair County Superintendent Mike Howard also said the yearbook page will be reprinted and policies will be reevaluated.
