Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos Donates $98.5 Million To Help The Homeless

Jeff Bezos continues to give back! Just last year, Bezos gave $97.5 million to organizations fighting homelessness to 24 organizations in 16 states. This year the Amazon founder and CEO donated an extra million to the cause and increased the number of recipients.

Using his Bezos Day One Fund, Bezos donated $98.5 million to 32 organizations from 23 states spanning from Maryland and New York to Alaska and Hawaii. It was said that the donations for each organization ranged from $1.25 million to $5 million.

The fund’s website explains that the recipients of the 2019 Day 1 Family Fund were selected by “experts in family homelessness who were instrumental in identifying and selecting this year’s award recipients.”

Bezos’ Day One Fund was created in September of 2018. It had a commitment of $2 billion to fund existing non-profits that help the homeless. In addition to that, to create new non-profit, tier-one preschools in low-income communities.

Forbes note that Bezos is the second-richest person in the world with a total net worth of $108 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
