Season 8 contestant of “Americas Next Top Model” Jael Strauss has died following a short battle with breast cancer.
Former “Americas Next Top Model” contestant Jael Strauss has passed from a form of incurable breast cancer, she was 34.
Sources close to the model say that she had been unconscious for a few days which resulted in the family stopping visitation. They say that’s when things turned bad on Monday night resulting in her death.
Strauss shared her cancer diagnosis on October 4th via her facebook page where she wrote a statement that read.
“I was gonna write some long thing but some of you guys deserve to know, On October 2nd I was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer.”
She continued … “It has aggressively spread throughout my body and is incurable. With treatment it may prolong my life longer than the ‘few months’ doctors said I could make it. I don’t want to die. I need another one of those miracles that I got back in 2013.”
Her diagnosis was followed up with a request to stop chemotherapy around Halloween.
Shortly after that, on Thanksgiving day, she entered a hospice facility which she shared on facebook saying;
“First night in hospice. So many things I never knew about life. Or death. So many things.”
Jael had various stints of drug use which resulted in a visit to the Dr.Phil show where he helped her get clean. Earlier in August, she celebrated 5 years of sobriety which she shared on Instagram saying;
“I know a few things to be true: Miracles are real, Recovery is possible for everyone no matter how far gone you think you are, We are never too broken to be put back together, Service work feels better than the greatest high, Sobriety makes you weirder not normal and I’d be dead if it weren’t for all the love and forgiveness I’ve been showered with by my friends and family.”
We will keep her family and friends in our prayers during this time of grieving.
