Comedian Amy Schumer and rapper Cardi B have backed Cynthia Nixon’s run for Governor of NY!
Schumer’s vote for Nixon came as a surprise after she announced her endorsement for current NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo just a few days ago.
“We voted. And we voted for [Cynthia Nixon] couldn’t help it. And for [Zephyr Teachout] and [Jumaane Williams],” she wrote on Instagram, “voted with my heart thanks to the women who took their time to talk to me about it. When someone disagrees with you be patient and have a conversation. It’s most productive.”
The “Trainwreck” star donated $10,000 to Nixon’s gubernatorial campaign days after she announced she was backing Cuomo due to Nixon not having “enough connections upstate”.
“Andrew isn’t my fav dude But he’s good gov,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, alongside a photo of her dog and kitten. “[Nixon] needs to be able to pressure the state legislature in stuff but I don’t believe she has enough connections upstate.”
Her cousin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, also endorsed Cuomo.
Bronx femcee Cardi B backed Nixon on Thursday and urged her fans to cast their ballots before the deadline.
“Polls close around 8PM .NEW YORKERS VOTE NOW !!!!!! #cynthia #jumaane,” Cardi B wrote to her 3.27 million Instagram followers, alongside a photo of Nixon and lieutenant governor candidate Jumaane Williams.
Cardi’s tweet came a day after Queens femcee Minaj tweeted to her 20.4 million Twitter followers on Wednesday saying,
“New Yorkers & all NYCHA residents its time to get JUSTICE, VOTE Thur. Sept. 13 for Gov. Cuomo, Lt. Gov. Hochul & Tish James.”
Attorney general candidate Zephyr Teachout — who is running on a slate with Nixon and Williams — tweeted out her support for Cardi B.
“I was in awe of @iamcardib dancing and performing while seven months pregnant at Coachella,” she tweeted.
