Apple Is Offering To Pay $1 Million If You Can Hack An iPhone

Need a million dollars? Well here’s your chance to get it! Apple is now offering the big load of money to someone who could pull off a very specific iPhone hack and explain to the tech company how they did it.

Apple first launched its bug bounty program back in 2016, where they offer rewards up to $200,000 for finding vulnerabilities in iOS devices that would allow an attacker to gain full control of the device, without any user interaction. During the Black Hat conference on Thursday in Las Vegas, Apple announced the big $1,000,000 payout; the biggest ever payout by the iPhone-maker.

In addition to that, Apple said finding other device vulnerabilities result in smaller rewards of up to $500,000. The program is now open to anyone who wants to participate. It’s no longer invite-only.

Many other tech companies have implemented the Bug bounty program knowing that hackers search for security flaws missed by internal teams, and instead of exploiting the bugs, they submit them back to the programs for financial rewards.
